A General Explanation of what our technology accomplishes.
As you know dirty coils steal efficiency. Coils become dirty on both the outer surfaces and inner surfaces. When coils become dirty more electricity is needed to maintain a set temperature.
Cleaning the outside of the coil is easy, but what about the other side of the coil?

The Facts from A.S.H.R.A.E.
“Almost all HVAC systems lose up to 30% efficiency within the first 5 years of the units life as a direct result of oil migrating into the coil system.”

Oil in the heat exchangers (coil system)
Oil migrating from the compressor into the heat exchangers is the main cause of the loss of efficiency. Oil that is lost into the heat exchanger coats the interior of the system, causing a thermo-conductive barrier. This thermo-conductive barrier reduces the efficiency of the system.

This diagram illustrates oil migrating from the compressor into the coil system.

Lets explore some highlights from A.S.H.R.A.E. Research Project (601-TRP) .

A.S.H.R.A.E. Research Project (601-TRP)
A.S.H.R.A.E. study (601-TRP) "Excess oil on the refrigerant side of chillers is a problem, It is a costly contaminant." Studies conducted by A.S.H.R.A.E. indicate that not only does oil entrained in a chiller's refrigerant significantly degrade performance, but these chillers also use significantly higher amounts of energy. This leads to higher utility bills.

In the A.S.H.R.A.E. research project (601-TRP), refrigerant samples from 10 randomly selected operating chillers were analyzed for oil content. Every chiller contained varying amounts of excess oil.

The three chillers with the lowest amounts of oil had been serviced and had their refrigerant recycled in the last six years; their oil content still ranged from 3-7%. The oil levels in the remaining 7 chillers’ refrigerant ranged from 9% to more than 20%.

Oil Migration/Fouling is a problem in all forms of refrigeration that have compressors that use oil for lubrication, including DX and refrigeration systems.

The Impact of the Problem
Refrigeration is everywhere. The impact of this problem is enormous.

The Institute for Real Estate Management (IREM) records yearly statistics which prove that HVAC comprises between 60-75% of the total power bill for any building.

HVAC comprises up to 75% of the power bill in buildings fewer than two stories, and 60% of the power bill in buildings over two stories. The efficiency loss shows itself as a 5-15% increase in the total power bill.

The loss physically shows itself as extended run time by the equipment to cool a designated area. The extended run time also shortens the life of the equipment & parts up to 30%.

Common Attempts to Reduce the Impact  of Oil Migration
Service contractors wait until oil buildup significantly decreases capacity. During routine maintenance service contractors attempt to remove excess oil from the refrigerant by decontaminating the it through a manual process or by emptying and recharging the chiller with new refrigerant. -A.S.H.R.A.E.

Why Heat Separators do not Solve the Problem
Heat Separators do not prevent oil from migrating to the coils, rather they reduce the amount of oil that migrates into the coil system.

When a Heat Separator is used on a chiller, it's coil system and refrigerant are still contaminated with oil.
Heat Separators are not used on DX units that account for the vast majority of the refrigeration market.

It is important for you to understand that we do not claim that oil migration is a problem. It’s a fact. Oil migration has been scientifically studied and documented over several decades by A.S.H.R.A.E (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning Engineers) .

Powertron Global has created an exciting new savings opportunity. Oil migration cannot be solved effectively through mechanical engineering. Our entirely new approach uses chemistry.
After 10 years of research and development our NMR technology is the only patented and proven solution on the market that neutralizes the effects of oil migration in HVAC.

Technology Overview
Our Nucleo Molecular Regenerative (NMR) technology is a new chemically engineered process that solves the problem of oil build up in HVAC systems that use coils.
NMR technology cleans your coils so your HVAC transfers heat efficiently.

How is the system treated
Treatment of the coil system is done through an injectable chemical compound that is added to the low pressure side of the system.

Once the coil system is treated heat conductivity and dissipation increases and laminar friction is reduced. Less energy is needed to circulate the refrigerant throughout the coils.

Our NMR technology attracts the heat from the refrigerant and conducts it through the metal at an accelerated rate increasing the systems capacity and reducing energy consumption.

Understanding the effects of Laminar Friction
Laminar Friction creates heat, drag, erosion, wear and tear, loss of energy and fatigue. Any material or gas that runs inside a pipe is subject to friction. When a fluid or gas runs through a pipe, the layer in contact with the metal surface creates a "drag".

The name Laminar Flow comes by the layered "laminated" effect caused by friction.
This layer also creates a laminar friction by "slowing down" the layer above it, which then slows down the layer in contact with it - and so on.

The further away from the first layer, the faster the product moves. This creates a pointed bullet shaped curve (see diagram).
The center of this curve has less friction and moves faster than the layer closest to the internal walls of the pipe.

NMR’s Reduce Laminar Friction
NMR's have a strong affinity to metals. The active thermo-conductive compounds displace energy robbing deposits thereby significantly reducing surface friction. When the refrigerant circulates through the pipe (condenser and evaporator), it comes in close contact with the metal surface.

This enables faster heat transfer, less laminar friction and better overall performance. The energy that was lost to friction now is restored. There is additional heat conductivity, dissipation and less energy is needed to "circulate" the refrigerant through the system.

Here is a microscopic view of the metal inside a coil. Nucleo Molecular Regenerative technology penetrates the metal pores filling any rough edges of the internal coil system. This metal conditioning is not a coating. When treated with the NMR’s the metal itself is conditioned to conduct heat more efficiently and reduce laminar friction.

The result is a CLEAN SYSTEM in which the oil no longer attaches itself to the sides of the metal coils.

Surface Area Metal Enhancements
The NMR's treat the oil itself. Treatment increases the lubricity of the oil, conditioning the seals, bearings and other mechanical parts of the HVAC system.
It's sophisticated molecular composition passivates and stabilizes all metal components throughout the system, allowing the refrigerant to absorb and dissipate heat at an accelerated rate.

The black represents a system that has not been treated. The red line represents a system that has been treated with NMR technology. This illustrates how a treated system keeps its efficiency overtime.

Summary
Oil migrating to the coil system is a documented well known fact among HVAC scientists and engineers including A.S.H.R.A.E.
Oil in the coils accounts for up to 30% reduction in efficiency within the first 5 years of a HVAC units life.

Technology, such as heat separators, have been invented to combat oil contamination. Heat separators minimize oil migration but do not prevent it.
Oil builds up on the coil system reducing the efficiency of heat transfer by the coil system.

PermaFrostTM simply cleans your HVAC system from the inside. In addition our products treat the coil system to remove heat from the metal surfaces faster, accelerate refrigerant flow and increase the thermo-conductivity of the refrigerant, oil and metal.

The Flaw

There is a design flaw that exists in almost every piece of HVAC equipment in the world, including the units at your home and business. HVAC technicians would agree that AC units lose S.E.E.R. (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) over time. However, they may not understand why.

Since Freon is the most common refrigerant we will use it for our illustration. The mechanics of the Freon evaporation cycle are the same as in your home, car, rooftop units, chillers and all cold food storage.

An air conditioner is a refrigerator without an insulated box. It uses the evaporation of a refrigerant, like Freon, to provide cooling.

This is how the evaporation cycle in an air conditioner works:
The compressor compresses low pressure Freon gas, causing it to become high pressure Freon gas (red in the diagram).

1. The high pressure gas runs through a set of coils so it can dissipate its heat and condense into a liquid.

2. The Freon liquid runs through an expansion valve, and in the process it evaporates to become low pressure Freon gas (blue in the diagram).

3. This low pressure gas runs through a set of coils which allow the gas to absorb heat. This absorption of heat is what causes the air to cool inside the building.

Oil lubricates the compressor’s cylinder, rings and piston to prevent burnout and excessive heat from the moving mechanical parts.

The oil mixes with the refrigerant. Liquid trace amounts of oil mix with refrigerant during compression stroke.

The refrigerant is pushed through the coil system which also contains some of the lubricating oil mixed in.

Oil then contaminates the coil making it dirty. This is called oil fouling.

This oil slows the refrigerant down making the compressor work harder because of added friction. Oil also forms a very thin coating creating a barrier to heat transfer.

This happens continuously.

Powertron Global’s PermaFrostTM solves this problem by cleaning the coil system from the inside and preventing the oil from reattaching to the surface again.
PermaFrostTM regains the lost efficiency and increases the thermo-conductive properties of the coil system.

Introduction

There is a new and exciting green product that can create up to 15% savings on your organization’s total power bill.

Powertron Global manufactures the only proven patented product that eliminates the effects of oil fouling in HVAC systems.
Oil fouling is a byproduct of HVAC design in any system that uses refrigerant for heat transfer and oil for compressor lubrication. 99.9 % of all HVAC equipment is affected by this design flaw.

The design flaw is responsible for an additional 5 to 15% increase in a commercial properties power bill.
Installing PermaFrostTM in an existing building nets a total power bill savings up to 15%, with most applications often averaging 9% or better across a portfolio of buildings.

HVAC accounts for up to 70% of the total power bill of any commercial property. Saving in this category creates a large opportunity for your business.

Whitney National Bank (NASDAQ:WTNY), which has been in continuous operation since 1883 and engages in community banking in the gulf coast five state region, installed our product bank wide in over 100 locations. They saved on average 9.7% on their total power bill because of our solution.

In addition to the savings on their power bill, they saved 21% on their annual maintenance costs bank wide (2006 vs. 2007).

Whitney National Bank continues to experience these savings year after year. Our products are installed once and last the life of the equipment.

For Whitney Bank, that is the equivalent of taking 291 homes off the power grid every year.

Organizations struggle with adopting green technology because it can be difficult to find products that actually save your company money.

Many of the solutions on the market such as changing lighting, adding rooftop coatings, installing insulation, and changing glass are just too expensive to implement and require a substantial investment with a long payback period.

You need to save money now, not ten years from now.

Powertron Global has been studying HVAC for years.

We have discovered a solution to a documented engineering flaw that exists in the design of almost every HVAC system in the world.

If you ask any HVAC technician if an air conditioner loses S.E.E.R. over time, they will agree. What they may not know is why all HVAC systems lose up to 30% of their efficiency within the first five years.

We can help your organization be green and save real money.

You can reduce your energy consumption in a quick, easy implementation that succeeds. If you want to go green this is your first step with the largest impact.

This animation represents the inside view of a coil before adding PermaFrost. The yellow and black spheres represent stagnant insulative oil that has formed along the surface due to oil fouling restricting refrigerant flow. This reduces the heat transfer ability and capacity of the coil system. Now the HVAC system increases its energy consumption to compensate for the lost efficiency.

PermaFrost molecules are highly activated compounds, which are small enough to fit through the larger and more complex oil molecules, fight their way through to bond to the metal displacing the stagnant oil and allowing it to flow back into circulation. After this removal of the oil, PermaFrost is then absorbed into the metal to prevent any future oil from sticking to the surface again so your system operates as it should for the rest of the unit’s life.

Refrigerant flows at a much higher velocity which increases the cooling capacity. PermaFrost allows the unit to achieve set temperatures faster while drawing less energy allowing the compressor, condenser and evaporator to perform at their utmost design efficiency. In addition our products contain anti-humectants, acid scavengers and seal/bearing conditioners to help extend the life of your equipment as well.

Our products are designed to remove heat from metal surfaces faster, accelerate refrigerant flow, increase thermo-conductivity and transfer heat more efficiently throughout the equipment.

A one time treatment of PermaFrost will reduce your energy costs, improve your systems efficiency, provide greater cooling for less energy and help the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
